Travels in Sri Lanka – Baththalangundu

Baththalangundu. I have to say, first of all, this is not a luxury place. I know this is Luxury because I thought it was Luxury in terms of natural beauty and freedom here. OK, then let’s get to the story.

What is this Island?

Battalangunduwa is an island in the North-Western Province of Sri Lanka, in the Puttalam District, just off the coast of Kalpitiya. The island is about 145 hectares in size. That is approximately 358 acres. This island is 25 nautical miles from Kalpitiya. That is 30.3 km away.

Battalangunduwa is the third-largest archipelago in Sri Lanka. There is a police station in Battalangundu. It takes about 4 hours to reach Battalangunduwa Island from Kalpitiya. And you can’t find clean drinking water here. You either need to get a water bottle from the little shop I mentioned earlier. Or the people who give you the package will solve the water problem. But cooking also requires water to be used sparingly. Also, you can park your vehicle coming to the Kalpitiya harbor at the Kalpitiya fishing harbor. They charge a small fee for that. And there is no transportation on this island. In short, not even a bicycle.

What do we have to get on this island?

Also has beautiful freedom on this island. The signal is only for the Dialogs network. There is no electricity. Good enough that you bring a power bank. The island is famous for camping, photography, nature, and swimming in the sea. You could even light a fire and have a BBQ at night. He also sings and dances in the sand until he is well intoxicated. No one will tell you anything. There is so much freedom.

What is security like here?

As for security, as I said before, there is a police station here. And you don’t have to be afraid of the people’s names here. There are very innocent people. Do not bother anyone. The majority are Catholic. It is necessary to be more selective in the assistance you provide to others in order to avoid alienating them. The islanders will not bother you.

What are the rules here?

Come on. I want to say something special. You can’t take a drone on this island. Before you leave, all your bags will be checked and sent to the Kalpitiya fishing harbor. But you can buy any Liquor as well as Cigarettes without any problem. If you are looking to get anything out of there, do not go. Could you not take them there? Take it with you on the go.
